Political parties in Taiz, southwestern Yemen, have proposed the formation of a streamlined emergency government consisting of 11 specialized ministers, excluding deputy ministers. This initiative aims to reduce government expenditures and redirect efforts toward urgent economic challenges.

In a statement obtained by Barran Press, the parties emphasized that a small and efficient emergency government would have a direct positive impact on controlling spending and effectively allocating resources to address the current situation. They noted that the continuation of the current government structure, with its expanded administrative framework, exacerbates financial waste and fails to meet the aspirations of the Yemeni people.

The parties also called on the Yemeni Parliament to return to the country and hold regular sessions to oversee government performance and approve state budgets. This oversight is seen as critical for enhancing financial resource management and improving the living conditions of citizens. They asserted that the parliament's role should be at the forefront of efforts to find tangible solutions to economic woes and mitigate the adverse effects of inflation.

The statement urged all parties to collaborate and rise above narrow political calculations to confront the economic and social challenges threatening the nation. They stressed the importance of keeping issues related to living conditions and the economy free from political exploitation, warning against "playing with fire" at the expense of the Yemeni people's livelihoods.

The political parties declared that the time has come for a serious stand reflecting a profound national sentiment regarding the risks facing the country. They cautioned that ignoring the current economic situation and its continued deterioration may lead to a "hunger revolution" as a last resort for the Yemeni people unless immediate and fundamental reforms are activated.

They called on the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government to take urgent actions to prevent a complete economic collapse, warning of worsening living conditions that could trigger widespread unrest.

The statement highlighted that the decline of the national currency and rising prices foreshadow an impending humanitarian disaster if official neglect continues and necessary measures are not taken to protect citizens' lives and dignity.

The parties urged the Presidential Leadership Council to take "historical and national responsibility" to avert a comprehensive economic collapse by launching a series of radical reforms, including emergency measures to control resources and prevent leakage outside the central bank's channels.

The recognized Yemeni government is currently facing a severe monetary crisis, with the local currency's instability worsening. The Yemeni rial has plummeted to over 2,000 rials per dollar, up from 1,676 rials in late April. The Saudi riyal has also seen a significant increase, now trading at 524 rials, compared to 441 rials previously, marking its lowest historical value.
