The Political Office of the National Resistance has expressed its support for a sustainable peace process grounded in the Yemeni constitution and fundamental references, as stated by the Office of the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen on November 4, 2024.

In a brief statement shared on the UN envoy's official account on X, reviewed by Barran Press, the meeting with the leadership of the National Resistance, led by Tareq Saleh, was highlighted. The discussion is part of a series of dialogues the UN office is conducting with Yemeni political entities to explore solutions, assess changing dynamics, and reinforce commitments toward a comprehensive peace process.

The statement emphasized that the Political Office of the National Resistance is committed to achieving lasting peace, aiming to find comprehensive and just solutions that address the needs of all Yemenis.

Key priorities discussed included a synchronized approach to political, economic, and military solutions, ensuring that any advancements in reconstruction, ceasefire, and humanitarian support occur in parallel, along with the inclusion of women in the peace process.

On October 24, the UN office referenced a similar meeting with leaders of the General People's Congress, where they warned against decisions that could lead to imbalanced gains, advocating for a political solution that respects national sovereignty.

Previously, the UN envoy's office has held discussions with other Yemeni political parties, indicating that these meetings aim to outline necessary steps to advance commitments made by the parties and initiate the political process.

In early October, the UN envoy reported launching dialogues with a range of Yemeni actors as part of ongoing efforts to build momentum toward a comprehensive and peaceful resolution to the conflict in Yemen. The meetings, held in Amman, Jordan, included discussions with representatives from the Rashad Party, the Nasserist Union Organization, the Yemeni Socialist Party, and civil society representatives.

The envoy noted a broad consensus during these meetings on the need for transparency and inclusive discussions to establish a roadmap for peace.
