Rashad Al-AIimi, the head of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, congratulated former President Donald Trump on November 6, 2024, following his victory in the U.S. presidential election.
In a message sent to Trump, as reported by the official Yemeni news agency Saba, Al-AIimi expressed his best wishes for the president's success and prosperity for the American people. He commended Trump's previous administration for its support of Yemen and its efforts to assist the Yemeni people in their aspirations to restore state institutions and counter the Houthi rebellion.
Al-AIimi expressed confidence in a promising future for fruitful bilateral cooperation across various sectors. He also acknowledged the strong commitment of the United States to collaborate with the United Nations and the international community to end the conflict in Yemen, aiming for a just and comprehensive peace based on national, regional, and international references, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
Earlier in the day, Trump announced his victory, claiming he had won the popular vote and secured approximately 315 Electoral College votes. During a rally at his Florida campaign headquarters, he expressed gratitude for the public's support and indicated that Republicans are likely to maintain their majority in the House of Representatives.
