A source in Sanaa, under Houthi control, reported on November 7, 2024, that the group has released a United Nations employee after nearly five months of captivity. The employee was among 13 individuals detained since June.

According to Yemeni journalist Faris Al-Hemyari, who is affiliated with the Chinese news agency Xinhua, the Houthi movement released Fadia Al-Suraihi, a Yemeni worker with the World Food Programme (WFP).

The source revealed that Al-Suraihi was arrested in June during a raid on her home, alongside her husband and two children. While her husband was released on the same day and the children the following day, Al-Suraihi remained in detention until now.

In addition to Al-Suraihi, the Houthis have detained 12 other UN employees, including six from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, as well as over 50 workers from various NGOs and one from an embassy, according to UN reports.
