Local sources reported on Saturday, November 9, 2024, that a man was critically injured when the Iran-backed Houthi group, designated as a terrorist organization by the international community, shelled residential neighborhoods in the Hais District - Hodeida, located in western Yemen.
Photojournalist Anwar Al Sharif identified the victim as Faisal Amer Ahmed Mughaini, a 60-year-old resident of the village of Dubas. Al Sharif noted that the mortar shell struck Mughaini's home, causing severe injuries that led to the amputation of his right hand.
According to Al Sharif, the Houthis fired multiple mortar shells from their positions in the mountains overlooking Hais, targeting the densely populated village of Dubas. He emphasized that Mughaini's injury was particularly serious, although no additional injuries were reported from the attack.
Al Sharif, a journalist based in Al Hodeida, stated that this incident is part of an ongoing pattern of violence by the Houthi group against civilians in the southern districts of the governorate, highlighting the relentless nature of these assaults.
