On November 11, 2024, local authorities in Marib Governorate held a meeting to coordinate efforts for the successful implementation of an emergency support project aimed at improving livelihoods and agricultural practices. The initiative is being carried out by the Good Coalition for Humanitarian Relief with funding from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The meeting, chaired by Marib Deputy Governor Abdu Rabbu Miftah, included representatives from the Agriculture Office, the Good Coalition for Relief, and directors from several districts within the governorate, as reported by the official Saba News Agency.

Participants reviewed the components of the project, which includes providing farmers with okra, onion, and sesame seeds, as well as fertilizers and distributing sheep to approximately 2,390 farmers in the city and valley districts. The project also offers guidance, training, and feed to enhance farmers' capabilities, thereby improving their livelihoods and increasing food production.

The meeting addressed the activities implemented since the project's launch in October, the challenges faced, and the best strategies to ensure its successful and transparent execution. There was also discussion about the potential to expand the project and market similar initiatives.

Miftah emphasized the importance of mobilizing resources and funding to bolster the agricultural sector in Marib, which is vital for recovery and addressing food insecurity, particularly as the governorate is considered one of Yemen's key food baskets and has absorbed over 62% of displaced persons.
