On November 12, 2024, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, a member of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, met with Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II of Jordan to discuss the activation of the joint higher committee led by the prime ministers of both countries. They also addressed the resumption of Royal Jordanian Airlines flights to Aden International Airport.

This meeting took place on the sidelines of the COP29 climate summit in Baku. The two leaders reviewed the current situation in Yemen, the ongoing developments in the Red Sea, and the persistent obstruction by the Houthi movement, which continues to reject efforts for a fair and comprehensive peace while exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the country.

According to the Yemeni news agency Saba, the discussions also included the escalating Israeli aggression against Palestinian and Lebanese territories, highlighting the importance of Arab and Islamic solidarity on this central issue.

Al-Alimi expressed appreciation for the deep historical ties between Yemen and Jordan, commending Jordan’s steadfast support for Yemen’s legitimacy and its pivotal role in assisting the Yemeni government and people amid current challenges.

Crown Prince Hussein reaffirmed the strong and robust brotherly relations between the two nations, emphasizing Jordan's commitment, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, to support Yemen and its people.

On November 11, Al-Alimi arrived in Baku to lead the Yemeni delegation at COP29, a prominent international event focused on addressing global climate challenges. Upon his arrival at Baku International Airport, he was welcomed by Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gaybov, along with several officials.

The conference aims to explore ways to mitigate global warming and its devastating consequences, focusing on new financial commitments for poorer countries affected by increasingly frequent heatwaves, storms, and floods due to climate change.

Yemen's participation in the summit underscores its commitment to engaging in discussions on global environmental issues and contributing to international efforts to combat climate change, which poses significant threats to Yemen across various sectors, including environmental, health, and economic aspects.
