On November 14, 2024, Rashad Al-Alimi, the President of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to implement decisions aimed at enhancing the government's access to resources across all provinces.

This statement came during a phone call with the internationally recognized Prime Minister, Ahmed Bin Mubarak, where they discussed the current economic and service conditions and the government’s efforts to expedite its economic rescue plan, according to the official Saba News Agency.

Al-Alimi highlighted the approved measures aimed at alleviating humanitarian suffering, which he noted has been exacerbated by Houthi attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes.

During the call, the President received updates from the Prime Minister regarding actions taken to strengthen the national currency, curb currency speculation, monitor service prices, and implement protective measures for local products and industries.

Al-Alimi also listened to a briefing on efforts to improve the efficiency of power generation plants and reduce frequent electricity outages, ensuring the continued flow of fuel from the provinces of Hadramaut and Marib to operate government facilities.

The recognized Yemeni government is currently facing a severe monetary crisis as the local currency continues to destabilize. The exchange rate for the Yemeni rial has reached an all-time low against foreign currencies, with one dollar now costing 2,000 rials, up from 1,676 rials in late April. Similarly, the Saudi riyal is now valued at 524 rials for sale, compared to 441 rials previously.
