The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning forecasted severe cold weather in five Yemeni provinces over the coming hours on November 14, 2024.
In its daily bulletin, the center indicated that mountainous areas, particularly in Al-Bayda, Dhamar, Sana'a, Amran, and Saada, are expected to experience cold to extremely cold temperatures during the night and early morning. The minimum temperature in Dhamar is projected to drop to two degrees Celsius, with temperatures in Sana'a and Amran expected to reach four degrees, and five degrees in Saada and Al-Bayda.
The report also noted that the highlands in the provinces of Ibb, Al-Dhale, and others are anticipated to experience relatively cold weather and clear to partly cloudy skies during the day. There is a possibility of scattered rain clouds developing over parts of the southwestern and northwestern highlands.
Additionally, coastal areas are expected to have partly cloudy skies with active to strong winds ranging from 10 to 26 knots along the southern western coast and the Bab el-Mandeb entrance, which may lead to rough seas and increased wave heights.
In the desert regions, clear skies with a tendency to cool off at night and partly cloudy conditions during the day are expected, along with moderate to occasionally active winds stirring up dust and sand.
The National Center urged farmers to take necessary precautions to protect their crops, as well as beekeepers and livestock herders. Citizens, particularly children, school students, the elderly, and outdoor workers, were advised to take precautions against the cold weather during the night and early morning hours.
