On November 15, 2024, the National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning issued a warning of extremely cold weather expected in five Yemeni provinces over the coming hours.
The center, in a yellow alert bulletin, forecasted that mountainous regions, including Saada, Amran, Sana'a, Dhamar, and Al-Bayda, will experience clear and very cold conditions during the night and early morning, with minimum temperatures ranging from 0 to 4 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, colder weather is expected in the highlands of Ibb, Al-Dhale'e, Lahij, and Abyan, where temperatures will range from 5 to 8 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, clear to partly cloudy skies are anticipated in parts of Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, Amran, Ibb, Raymah, and Taiz during the afternoon.
The coastal areas are forecasted to have mostly clear skies, with partly to mostly cloudy conditions expected over the Socotra Archipelago, along with scattered rain and moderate to brisk winds ranging from 14 to 28 knots along the southern western coast and the Bab al-Mandab area, leading to choppy seas and higher waves.
In the desert regions, generally, clear weather with a slight chill during nighttime and early morning is expected, along with light to moderate winds that may occasionally pick up.
The National Center for Meteorology urged farmers to take necessary precautions to protect their crops, as well as beekeepers and livestock herders. It also advised citizens, especially children, school students, the elderly, and outdoor workers, to take precautions against the cold weather, particularly during the night and early morning hours.
