On November 18, 2024, the Specialized Criminal Court in Aden issued death sentences for four individuals convicted in the assassination of prominent Yemeni military leader Thabit Juwas and his companions.

The court found the defendants—Mohammed Ali Mohsen Abdullah Al-Azani, Rania Said Salam, Mohammed Ahmed Yahya Al-Maisari, and Amjad Khaled Farhan—guilty of the charges. In addition, the court sentenced a fifth defendant, Abdul Karim Ali Mohsen Abdul Rahman Al-Azani, to ten years in prison and ordered him to pay 500,000 Yemeni rials in legal fees to lawyer Khaled Al-Maisari.

The court also mandated the public prosecutor's office to confiscate the seized items related to the case.

This ruling marks the first legal outcome in the assassination of General Thabit Juwas, who was killed over two years ago in Aden, which remains under the security and military control of the Southern Transitional Council.

Juwas, the commander of the 131st Infantry Brigade and head of the Al-Anad Axis, was targeted in a car bomb explosion on March 22, 2022, which also claimed the lives of several of his companions. He had previously been a prominent figure in the fight against the Houthi movement, particularly during the early conflict in Saada, which resulted in the death of Houthi founder Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi.
