On November 19, 2024, the Supreme Council of the National Coalition of Political Parties and Components urged the necessity of "liberating public freedoms and opening political space for democratic action, while respecting political pluralism as a cornerstone of the political system."
This call was made during a meeting chaired by coalition leader and Shura Council President Ahmed Obaid bin Daghr, where they discussed the agenda and key national and political issues. The meeting's outcomes were shared by bin Daghr on his X platform account, as reported by "Barran Press."
In his address, bin Daghr emphasized the significance of the current phase and the need to strengthen collaborative efforts to achieve national objectives. He stressed the importance of developing a comprehensive political program for the coalition that addresses various societal issues and enhances its role as an effective entity for desired change.
He called for the resumption of political life and the enhancement of public freedoms across all governorates while rallying efforts to confront the Houthi coup and resist Iranian interference in Yemen.
Regarding the economic collapse and lack of basic services, the council tasked the executive authority with preparing a realistic study that includes practical solutions to these crises, to be presented to the executive authority for resolution.
The discussion also highlighted the role of political parties and components as carriers of the national project, emphasizing the importance of building on past experiences to present a new model for effective and independent political action.
The council approved the referral of the political program directives to the executive authority for preparation, which includes commitments to the constitution and the three references, supporting democracy, restoring the state, addressing economic crises, unifying military decisions, protecting public freedoms, and promoting national identity and equal citizenship.
