On November 21, 2024, the Human Access organization announced the launch of a wide range of activities aimed at promoting protection and supporting livelihoods for women in Marib, northeastern Yemen. This initiative is backed by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
According to the Relief Network, affiliated with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Human Access held meetings in the Al-Jafina and Al-Matar areas to prepare for active participation in the upcoming 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.
This campaign will begin on November 25, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and will conclude on December 10, aligning with Human Rights Day.
In Al-Jafina, a safe space organized a training program on sewing and bag-making for 11 beneficiaries, equipping them with skills to generate income and improve their livelihoods as a sustainable solution to daily challenges, thus enhancing their resilience amid increasing humanitarian needs.
Additionally, the safe spaces conducted two awareness sessions, the first focusing on marital issues and the second addressing "livelihood improvement and poverty alleviation," highlighting family problems and the importance of women's access to resources.
Twenty-two of the most vulnerable women also benefited from two training courses in sewing and pastry-making, aimed at strengthening their resilience against economic shocks. Furthermore, 12 women participated in a training program in hairdressing and makeup artistry to facilitate their entry into the job market and achieve economic independence.
