The effects of a low-pressure system have diminished as of Saturday, November 23, 2024, following a week of heavy to moderate rainfall that caused flooding in several Yemeni provinces.

Weather models monitored by Barran Press indicate that the influence of the low-pressure system is waning across many regions, though light to moderate rain is still expected in Socotra on Sunday.

The models show a retreat of the rainy low clouds that affected large areas of Yemen in recent days, leaving behind relatively high clouds that are not expected to bring further precipitation.

The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning forecasts colder weather in mountainous areas over the coming hours, with varying levels of rainfall in different regions.

According to the center's daily report reviewed by Baran Press, the mountainous provinces (Dhamar, Al-Bayda, Sana'a, Amran, and Saada) are expected to experience clear to partly cloudy and cool conditions during the night and early morning.

Daytime forecasts indicate partly to mostly cloudy conditions with intermittent rain, which may occasionally be accompanied by thunderstorms, in provinces such as Saada, Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, Rima, Ibb, Taiz, and Lahij, as well as in the mountainous and coastal areas of Tihama. Scattered rain is anticipated in parts of Amran, Sana'a, Dhamar, and Al-Dhale, along with the highlands of Abyan and Shabwa.

In coastal areas, partly to mostly cloudy weather is expected with scattered rain along portions of the western, southern, and eastern coasts, including Socotra. Active winds are predicted along the western coast and Bab al-Mandab entrance.

The meteorological center also forecasts clear to partly cloudy conditions in desert regions, with a chance of scattered rain in Shabwa and western Marib and Al-Jawf, accompanied by moderate winds.

The National Center for Meteorology has warned against staying in low-lying areas and riverbeds in regions expecting rainfall and advised caution against the cold weather in mountainous areas.
