Marib, Yemen – On Saturday, November 23, 2024, the city of Marib hosted a fun day for displaced children at the Al-Jufaina camp, the largest displacement camp in Yemen, in celebration of World Children’s Day, observed annually on November 20.
The event, organized by the Office of Social Affairs and Labor in Marib, aimed to bring joy and happiness to the children while highlighting their rights and the responsibilities of parents and the community. Sqotri Al-Baqma, the director of women and children at the office, stated that the initiative is part of child protection activities supported by UNICEF.
Al-Baqma emphasized that the recreational day, held in a safe space within the community center, included various activities designed to allow children to play, pursue their hobbies, and express their feelings, aspirations, and dreams. The event also aimed to foster a spirit of positive competition, cultural enrichment, and friendship.
Activities during the open day featured games, competitions, drawing, singing, poetry, arts, theater, and an introduction to local cultural heritage, all intended to create a memorable experience for the children.
