On Sunday, November 24, 2024, the Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen held its second meeting in less than a week to discuss the latest political, economic, administrative, security, and military developments, as well as to review its previous decisions and orders.

According to the official Yemeni News Agency Saba, the meeting was chaired by Council President Rashad Al-Alimi and attended by all members except for Major General Sultan Al-Aradah, who was absent for a valid reason.

The council reviewed a summary of its past decisions and orders, discussing necessary measures in coordination with relevant authorities, particularly regarding fluctuations in the national currency and essential commodities.

Additionally, the council examined steps taken to ensure the government meets its mandatory commitments and continues its comprehensive reforms, which it stated are supported by the regional and international community.

Reports were presented on the executive authority's performance over the past period, including updates on economic, financial, and monetary indicators, as well as proposed recommendations to mitigate the impacts of ongoing oil export halts and rising shipping costs due to Houthi terrorist attacks backed by the Iranian regime.

The council also addressed military and security developments in light of the Houthi group's recent escalation in multiple fronts, where they have suffered significant losses in personnel and equipment.

Participants commended the high vigilance displayed by the armed forces and all military formations in countering Houthi attacks and thwarting their repeated attempts to revert the situation to full-scale war, showing little regard for the prolonged suffering of the Yemeni people.

Furthermore, the council warned against the Houthis exploiting the plight of the Palestinian people and their just cause to advance their narrow interests, rallying misled citizens to target civilian sites and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis resulting from their coup against national consensus in September 2014.

According to the agency, the council will continue to hold meetings throughout the week to further discuss the issues on its agenda in light of local, regional, and international developments.
