Marib Authorities Honor 11 Athletes for International Achievements

Marib, Yemen – On Thursday, November 28, 2024, local authorities in Marib honored 11 athletes for their outstanding performances in Arab and international sports competitions held in Oman, Qatar, and Jordan, where they secured top positions and won gold, silver, and bronze medals.

In a statement to Barran Press, Marib Deputy Governor Ali Al-Fatimi praised the achievements of the young athletes, emphasizing their role as a cornerstone in building the community. He highlighted the directives of Presidential Leadership Council member Sultan Al-Arada to provide all necessary support to empower youth to reach higher levels in various events, both nationally and internationally.

Al-Fatimi also expressed gratitude for the efforts of coaches, Minister of Youth and Sports Naif Al-Bakri, and the Youth and Sports Office in Marib.

Meanwhile, Ali Hashwan, Director General of Youth and Sports in Marib, expressed his happiness at honoring the champions who have excelled in numerous activities. He noted that taekwondo events were organized in the UAE, Oman, and Qatar, where athletes won multiple medals. He also mentioned the recent participation of Al-Sadd Sports Club in Jordan, where they achieved three medals and ranked third.

Hashwan stated that these accomplishments represent the greatest achievement for Marib and for Yemen, as they raise the Yemeni flag in international arenas. He commended the local authorities in Marib and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for their support and encouragement of sports and youth.

He expressed hope for further achievements in both individual and team sports, affirming that this recognition is a tribute to the hard work of the athletes and reflects the pride and honor that Marib and Yemen feel for their resilient youth.
