On Thursday, December 5, 2024, Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi departed from Abu Dhabi after a six-day official visit, accompanied by council member Othman Majli.

Al-Alimi's departure from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) raised questions as there were no reports of a meeting with President Mohammed bin Zayed or any other high-ranking officials during his stay. His visit was primarily marked by a trip to the Martyrs’ Oasis and meetings with fellow council members Tareq Saleh and former council member Salem Saleh Mohammed.

The Yemeni News Agency "Saba" had previously reported that al-Alimi's official visit aimed to conduct discussions with President bin Zayed regarding the latest developments in Yemen, bilateral relations, and potential future collaborations.

In its coverage of al-Alimi's departure, Saba noted that he participated in the UAE's celebrations for the 53rd National Day and the Martyrs’ Day ceremonies, including a formal parade in Al Ain.

Al-Alimi praised the UAE's "honorable brotherly positions" under the leadership of Mohammed bin Zayed, particularly in support of the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership, and in alleviating the humanitarian suffering caused by the Houthi movement, which is internationally recognized as a terrorist organization.

As of the time of this report, the reasons for the absence of a meeting between al-Alimi and President bin Zayed remained unclear, despite the stated purpose of the visit.
