On Thursday, December 5, 2024, the Southern Giants Forces announced that they successfully repelled a series of attacks launched by the Houthi movement, which is classified as a terrorist organization, in Taiz Governorate, southwestern Yemen.

According to the media center of the Southern Giants, the Houthi attacks targeted several villages in the Al-Shamir area of the Maqbana District. The Houthis, backed by Iran, employed drones, artillery, and medium-caliber weapons during their assaults.

The Southern Giants confirmed their forces were able to thwart the Houthi offensives, inflicting casualties on both personnel and equipment. They continue to conduct operations to counter and prevent Houthi attacks across various areas along the western coast front.

The conflict fronts in Taiz have seen intermittent clashes and ongoing infiltration attempts by Houthi forces. Earlier this week, the Taiz military axis, part of the Yemeni army, reported that they had thwarted 16 infiltration attempts by Houthi elements across various fronts in the governorate during November.
