On Saturday, December 7, 2024, Dr. Abdu Rabbu Miftah, the Deputy Governor of Marib in northeastern Yemen, urged local council members, executive office directors, and community leaders to cooperate with both fixed and mobile vaccination teams in the emergency cholera vaccination campaign.

This initiative was launched as part of a house-to-house vaccination drive, which began today and will run until December 12, targeting residents in the Marib City and Al-Wadi districts, according to the official Yemeni news agency Saba.

During the launch, Miftah emphasized the importance of uniting official and grassroots efforts to ensure the campaign's success. He described this collaboration as a moral obligation and a national duty, aiming to achieve the campaign's objectives and protect the community from the cholera outbreak.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Abbadi, the Director of the Health Office, stated that the campaign aims to reach 800,000 individuals aged one and older over a six-day period. It involves the participation of 1,632 health workers and field supervisors organized into 757 vaccination teams conducting door-to-door visits in high-risk areas, including residential neighborhoods and displacement camps.

Additionally, health education volunteers are simultaneously conducting awareness campaigns in targeted areas using various media, mobile loudspeakers, and distributing posters and brochures. These efforts aim to enhance community awareness about the importance of vaccination to prevent the spread of this deadly disease.
