Meteorological Center Warns of Continued Cold Wave and Forecasts Sporadic Rainfall

On Sunday, December 8, 2024, the Meteorological Center and Early Warning Authority of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology issued a warning regarding the continuation of a cold wave, predicting very cold to severe cold weather with a possibility of frost formation in parts of the mountainous regions in the coming hours.

In its weather bulletin, which was reviewed by Barran Press, the center stated that the mountainous areas would experience clear and very cold weather, particularly during the night and early morning, with a chance of frost in some areas.

The center also forecasted that coastal regions would see mostly clear to partially cloudy weather with moderate temperatures, and sporadic rainfall expected in parts of the Socotra Archipelago. Light to moderate winds are anticipated along the southern coasts, with stronger winds in the Socotra Archipelago and southern western coasts, reaching speeds of up to 28 knots.

In the desert and plateau areas, the center expects a clear and moderate daytime with relatively cold nights, accompanied by moderate winds that may raise dust and sand.

According to the center, the expected maximum and minimum temperatures for several provinces on Sunday are as follows: Aden 30°C / 23°C, Sana'a 25°C / 3°C, Mukalla 29°C / 22°C, Socotra 30°C / 20°C, Al-Ghaydah 31°C / 17°C, Say'un 29°C / 12°C, Taiz 27°C / 12°C, Al-Dhale'e 25°C / 11°C, Mareb 28°C / 11°C, Ataq 27°C / 12°C, Lahij 30°C / 22°C, Al-Hudaydah 31°C / 24°C, and Zinjibar 30°C / 23°C.

The Meteorological Center cautioned citizens, particularly the elderly and children in mountainous areas, to be aware of the cold weather during the night and early morning. It also advised farmers, livestock breeders, and beekeepers in these regions to take necessary precautions due to the drop in temperatures.
