On December 9, 2024, the General Assembly of the Yemen Football Federation announced the reelection of Ahmed Saleh Al-Essi as president for a new term spanning from 2024 to 2028. The election took place in Doha, Qatar, where Al-Essi was elected unopposed.

According to a statement from the assembly reviewed by Barran Press, Al-Essi's presidency was secured through a process of acclamation, as he was the sole candidate. The electoral process for other federation positions is ongoing, with 71 out of 80 assembly members present.

The election committee of the Yemen Football Federation postponed the election for the first vice president for six months due to the absence of competing candidates, Hassan Bashanfar and Talal Bin Haidara. Additionally, candidates Hussein Al-Sharif, Al-Hassan Al-Jalal, and Abdul Moneim Sharhan withdrew from the race for the second vice president position, leaving the contest between Nabil Al-Jarb and Adel Omar, with the latter winning 53 votes.

Originally scheduled for November 30, the elections were delayed to December 9 following the passing of the federation's former financial officer, Mohammed Al-Tawil, and the incomplete preparation of the final financial report.
