The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning has issued a warning on December 9, 2024, regarding the potential formation of frost in parts of Marib, Shabwa, Hadramout, Al-Jawf, and the mountainous regions in the coming hours.
According to the center's weather report, frost is expected to develop early Monday morning in areas south of Marib, west of Al-Jawf, and in the plateaus of Hadramout and Shabwa. The warning also includes the mountainous regions of Saada, Amran, Sana’a, Dhamar, Al-Bayda, and limited areas in the highlands of Ibb, Al-Dhale, Lahj, and Abyan.
The forecast indicates that these provinces will experience extremely cold temperatures during the nighttime and early morning hours, with chilly conditions expected in parts of the highlands of Taiz, Raymah, Al-Mahwit, and Hajjah.
Coastal areas are anticipated to have partly cloudy skies with moderate to active winds over the southern Red Sea and the entrance to Bab al-Mandab, leading to rough seas and elevated waves.
The desert regions will generally experience clear skies, though they will also be relatively cold during nighttime and early morning, with moderate winds that may stir up dust and sand.
The center has advised residents, particularly the elderly and children in mountainous areas, to take precautions against the cold temperatures during the night and early morning. Farmers, livestock breeders, and beekeepers in these regions are also urged to prepare for the expected drop in temperatures.
