On December 14, 2024, the National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning (governmental) warned about the potential formation of frost and fog in parts of the mountainous regions over the coming hours.
In its daily bulletin, which was reviewed by Barran Press, the center forecasted extremely cold weather in the western mountainous areas during the night and early morning.
Coastal regions are expected to experience partly cloudy and moderate temperatures, with light to moderate winds along the southern coasts. In contrast, winds in the Socotra Archipelago, the Bab al-Mandab entrance, and the southern western coasts may become active, reaching speeds of up to 25 knots.
The center also noted that the weather in the desert and internal plateau areas would be clear and moderately warm during the day, but cold to relatively cool at night, with moderate winds stirring up dust and sand.
The lowest recorded temperatures at various monitoring stations on Saturday morning were as follows: Dhamar: 0.6°C, Al-Bayda: 1.8°C, Sana'a: 2.4°C, Amran: 2.8°C, Ibb: 6.7°C, Al-Mahwit: 8.2°C, and Al-Jawf: 9.1°C.
Authorities urged citizens, particularly the elderly and children in mountainous regions, to take precautions against the cold weather during the night and early morning hours. Farmers, livestock breeders, and beekeepers in these areas were also advised to implement necessary measures for protection.
