On December 14, 2024, five members of the same family, including a seven-month pregnant woman, died in a horrific traffic accident on the western outskirts of Sana'a, Yemen. Local sources and activists reported that the incident occurred when the driver of a speeding Toyota Hilux collided with a smaller vehicle carrying the family in the Al-Sabbaha area of Sana'a province.

The victims included Beligh Al-Haddad Al-Mashouli, his pregnant wife, his mother, and two children—a boy and a girl—who were the children of his siblings.

Additionally, two of Beligh's children, aged 10 and 14, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the Republican Hospital in Sana'a, where they are reported to be in critical condition.

This tragic incident is part of a troubling trend of fatal traffic accidents in Yemen, where hundreds of lives are lost each month due to deteriorating road conditions, excessive speed, and a lack of regular vehicle maintenance.
