Sana'a, Yemen – On December 17, 2024, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its forces conducted a precision airstrike against a key command and control facility belonging to the Houthi militia, which is internationally designated as a terrorist organization, in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a.
In a statement shared on platform X, monitored by Barran Press, CENTCOM reported that the targeted facility served as a coordination center for Houthi operations, including attacks on U.S. Navy warships and commercial vessels in the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The command emphasized that the strike demonstrates the ongoing commitment of U.S. Central Command to protect U.S. personnel, coalition partners, regional allies, and international shipping.
Since the beginning of 2024, a U.S.-led coalition has been conducting airstrikes targeting Houthi positions across various regions in Yemen, responding to Iranian-backed militia attacks on commercial shipping in the Red and Arabian seas.
