After a tough opening match in the Gulf Cup 26 against defending champions Iraq, national football coach Nourredine Beld Ali expressed pride in his team's performance despite the 1-0 loss. Speaking at a press conference on December 22, 2024, the Algerian coach emphasized that his squad did not deserve to lose.

"We showed solid defensive play and played to our strengths with effective counterattacks," Beld Ali stated. He noted that the team finished the first half in a stalemate but conceded a goal in the 64th minute due to Iraq's long-ball strategy.

The coach highlighted a controversial moment in the first half where a potential penalty for his team was not awarded. He felt that the foul on player Omar Al-Dahi in the box warranted a VAR review.

Looking ahead to the next match against Saudi Arabia, Beld Ali stressed the importance of maintaining their performance momentum and minimizing mistakes. "We need to stay calm and build our attacks from the back without fear," he said.

Beld Ali expressed confidence in his players' determination to secure their first victory and dedicate it to the Yemeni people, while also focusing on correcting the errors from their opening game.
