On December 23, 2024, Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council ordered constitutional and legal measures to restructure the National Anti-Corruption Authority and enhance oversight mechanisms to protect state resources and bolster the integrity of government.

The directive came during a meeting led by Council President Rashad Al-Alimi, attended by all council members, where they discussed the current national situation and government efforts to provide services and alleviate humanitarian suffering, according to the official Yemeni news agency Saba.

The council reviewed the performance of various governmental bodies, focusing on financial and administrative reforms, anti-corruption efforts, and the promotion of transparency and good governance. They also evaluated the status of legal cases being handled by the judiciary and those detailed in reports from the Central Organization for Control and Accountability.

Additionally, the council urged the government to expedite its response to the economic crisis, dismantling barriers that hinder humanitarian efforts and ensuring that aid reaches those in need throughout the country.

The meeting underscored the council's commitment to facilitating government operations and enhancing its capacity to meet urgent obligations and respond to emerging crises in coordination with all state institutions and local authorities.

Furthermore, the council discussed initial proposals for addressing the strategic requirements for the upcoming phase, which had been approved in a previous meeting. This strategy encompasses various political, economic, and military pathways, leading to appropriate decisions and recommendations.

In this context, the council called for the rapid completion of sectoral matrices to implement the strategy, viewing it as a roadmap to tackle intertwined challenges, stressing the importance of prioritizing development and continuing the fight against terrorism.
