In a significant development on Tuesday, the newly established Syrian leadership announced that Ahmad Al-Shar’ will lead an agreement with revolutionary faction leaders to dissolve all armed groups and consolidate them under the Ministry of Defense.
State news agency SANA reported that the meeting between revolutionary faction leaders and the new Syrian administration’s chief, Ahmad Al-Shar’, resulted in a landmark deal to unify the factions.
On Saturday, the new Syrian government appointed Marhaf Abu Qasra as Minister of Defense for the transitional government. Abu Qasra, an agricultural engineer from Al-Hafaya in Hama province, is also known by his war name "Abu Hassan Al-Hamwi" or "Abu Hassan 600." He previously served as the commander of the military wing of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. and other countries.
Abu Qasra led military operations that began in late November from Idlib and expanded to major cities such as Aleppo, Hama, and Homs, ultimately reaching the capital, Damascus, and toppling Bashar al-Assad's regime.
Al-Shar’, formerly known as "Abu Muhammad Al-Julani," stated that all weapons in the country would come under state control, including those held by Kurdish forces.
