Sheikh Ahmed Al-Essi, president of the Yemeni Football Association, announced a financial reward for the national team following their impressive performance in the 26th Gulf Cup held in Kuwait. After the team secured a victory against Bahrain in their final match, Al-Essi pledged to award each player $3,000 as a bonus.

In a subsequent announcement, Naif Al-Bakri, Yemen’s Minister of Youth and Sports, added an additional $1,000 for each member of the delegation, totaling approximately 70 million Yemeni rials from the Youth and Sports Care Fund.

This announcement came during a phone call between Minister Al-Bakri and Sheikh Al-Essi, as well as the national team, following their historic win. The victory marked Yemen's first win in the Gulf Cup since their debut 21 years ago.

In a statement published on the ministry's Facebook page, Al-Bakri praised the Football Association's efforts to maintain international participation and uphold Yemen's presence in various regional and continental competitions. He congratulated the players and coaching staff for their remarkable performance against teams with significant resources and capabilities, highlighting the national spirit they displayed throughout the tournament.

On December 28, 2024, Yemen concluded their participation in the Gulf Cup with a 2-1 victory over Bahrain at Al-Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, a fitting end to their campaign in the group stage.

This win is particularly significant, as it represents Yemen's first triumph in the Gulf Cup since their initial participation in 2003 during the 16th edition.
