On December 31, 2024, Yemen's Governmental Meteorological Center announced predictions for cold and dry weather in mountainous and desert regions, particularly during the night and early morning. The report also highlighted the possibility of fog and low-lying clouds forming in various areas.
According to the center's weather bulletin, reviewed by Barran Press, coastal regions are expected to experience generally mild temperatures, with partial cloudiness and scattered rain likely in the Socotra Archipelago and southern and southwestern coasts. Light to moderate winds are anticipated to strengthen around Bab al-Mandab and on Miyun Island, as well as parts of the southwestern coast and the Socotra Archipelago.
In the desert and internal plateau regions, the weather is predicted to be dry and clear, with moderate daytime temperatures but cold to very cold nights and early mornings, accompanied by light to moderate winds.
The center provided specific temperature forecasts for several provinces on Tuesday, including Aden at 29°C / 23°C, Sana'a at 25°C / 3°C, Dhamar at 25°C / 3°C, and Al-Hudaydah at 31°C / 23°C.
The center urged residents in high-altitude mountainous areas to take precautions against low temperatures, especially for children and the elderly. It also warned drivers in mountainous regions to be cautious of reduced visibility due to fog and advised farmers in high-altitude areas about the potential impact of severe cold on their crops.
