On December 31, 2024, the President of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council issued six significant military appointments aimed at restructuring the armed forces.

According to Yemen's official news agency, Saba, the council's decision number (346) appointed Major General Saleh Mohammed Taimas as an advisor to the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Additionally, decision number (349) promoted Colonel Mohammed Salmeen Awdh Batiss to the rank of Major General, designating him as the Assistant Minister of Defense for Human Resources.

The council's decision number (333) appointed Colonel Saleh Mohammed Abdul-Rahman Al-Ju'aimlani as the new commander of the First Military Region and commander of the 37th Armored Brigade, also promoting him to Major General, succeeding Major General Saleh Taimas.

The First Military Region, which is headquartered in the city of Seiyun, is primarily deployed in the Wadi area of Hadhramaut Governorate.

Moreover, decision number (348) named Colonel Ali Hatim Ahmed Abdullah as an advisor to the Minister of Defense for Training and Educational Institutions, while decision number (347) appointed Colonel Yahya Ali Abu Aujah as an advisor to the Minister of Defense.

Decision number (334) promoted Colonel Ali Yahya Al-Adabii to the rank of Brigadier General and appointed him as the commander of the 135th Infantry Brigade, succeeding Colonel Yahya Abu Aujah, who now serves as an advisor to the Minister of Defense.

These appointments take effect immediately and will be published in the official gazette and military bulletins.

On December 27, 2024, sources within the Yemeni Ministry of Defense had indicated an unannounced presidential decision to dismiss Major General Saleh Mohammed Taimas as commander of the First Military Region, appointing Colonel Saleh Mohammed Abdul-Rahman Al-Ju'aimlani  in his stead.

Major General Al-Ju'aimlani is recognized as a prominent military leader, having previously commanded the Third Mountain Infantry Brigade and later the Third Presidential Protection Brigade under former President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, prior to the Houthi takeover of Sana'a.

In November 2021, he received a fellowship from the Sudanese War College after successfully defending a thesis on "Military Leadership of the Republic of Yemen in the Context of Restructuring the Armed Forces."
