On December 31, 2024, Saud Al-Yousufi, the Vice President of the General People's Congress branch in Marib, northeastern Yemen, presented a "Friendship Shield" to Shao Cheng, the Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese embassy in Yemen. This recognition was given in appreciation of Shao's efforts to enhance bilateral relations between the two parties.

The honor was bestowed during a meeting attended by Al-Yousufi and Mohammed Al-Yousufi, the Director General of Investment in the governorate. They discussed the ongoing bilateral relations between Yemen and China and explored new avenues for cooperation across various sectors.

Al-Yousufi emphasized Marib’s pivotal role in fostering peace in Yemen, noting that the legitimate government, in collaboration with local leadership under General Sultan Al-Eradah, is committed to establishing conditions for a just peace that safeguards the rights of all Yemeni citizens.

In response, Shao Cheng reiterated China's continued support for Yemen’s legitimate government and its steadfast position on the security, safety, and unity of the country. He highlighted the significance of Sino-Yemeni relations in promoting peace and development within Yemen.

Looking ahead, Shao expressed optimism that 2025 would mark a new chapter in the partnership between the two parties and extended an invitation to Al-Yousufi to visit China to strengthen exchanges and share expertise. He underscored the importance of developing cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.

Regarding investment opportunities, Mohammed Al-Yousufi noted that Marib has evolved into an ideal environment for investment. Several companies and commercial centers have established their headquarters there, further solidifying its status as a viable investment hub.
