On January 8, 2025, a protest took place in front of the local governor's office in Taiz, southern Yemen, demanding the swift arrest of the killer of Saif Al-Sharabi and his daughter. The demonstration was organized by Al-Sharabi's family and several activists, who carried placards condemning the murder and calling for justice.
The protestors emphasized that "there can be no peace without justice, and no security without accountability," asserting that there would be no leniency for those who spill blood. A statement from the protest, shared with Barran Press, called for the immediate capture of the alleged killer, Walid Shal’a, and for a fair trial to be conducted.
Participants also urged the authorities to maintain transparency in the legal processes and keep the public informed about the case's developments. They insisted on the necessity of urgent action from law enforcement to prevent a continued cycle of impunity that threatens the entire community.
During the protest, Barran Press spoke with Ghadir Al-Sharabi, the victim's daughter, who expressed her anguish over the murder of her father, Saif Mahmoud Al-Sharabi, stating that more than a week had passed since his death. She emphasized the collective moral and national responsibility to renew calls for justice and hold the perpetrators accountable.

Ghadir noted that law enforcement is reportedly pursuing the suspect, expressing hope for positive news that would allow her family to finally lay her father to rest, as his body remains in a morgue.
She appealed directly to President Rashad Al-Alimi and local leaders in Taiz to ensure the capture of Walid Shal’a and exact justice as a lesson for others. Saif Al-Sharabi was killed on December 31, 2024, after he objected to the suspect using his home’s entrance as a gathering place for qat chewing.
The case has garnered widespread public attention, and the Taiz police announced the arrest of a second suspect along with eight others who allegedly helped conceal the main suspect. They reiterated their commitment to pursuing the primary offender and taking stringent measures against anyone involved in harboring or attempting to hide him.
The police urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and report any information that could aid in resolving the case, appreciating the community's and media's engagement in ensuring security.
