Marib Cleanliness Fund Reports Major Achievements for 2024

MARIB, Yemen — The Marib Cleanliness and Improvement Fund announced on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, that it successfully removed 370,278 tons of solid waste throughout 2024. This effort included waste collection from residential neighborhoods and 71 camps for displaced individuals in the city.

According to the fund's annual performance report, this marks an increase of 96,385 tons of solid waste compared to the previous year, 2023. The fund conducted approximately ten cleanliness campaigns, distributed over 186 new waste collection bins, and provided more than 1,000 trash cans to local businesses. Additionally, it cleared around 17,280 tons of accumulated dirt from major and minor streets in Marib.

In the sanitation sector, the fund reported that it pumped out 259,865 cubic meters of liquid waste from various neighborhoods and camps, while also maintaining the city’s aging sewage network.

Regarding beautification and afforestation efforts, the fund completed paving work on public roads and government facilities, covering a total area of 9,065 square meters with interlocking tiles and 6,853 square meters with stone pavers. It also planted approximately 9,200 ornamental trees in public streets and around 25 government buildings, including the courthouse and the Air Defense College.

The fund highlighted several infrastructure projects completed in 2024, including the installation of informational signage, the launch of the Martyr Al-Shaddadi Square project, and the construction of a museum wall. Additionally, it initiated an automated collection system and maintenance work on the Al-Falaj road.

Furthermore, the fund participated in various campaigns to remove informal settlements and demolish illegal constructions in the city, actively contributing to emergency response efforts in the province.

Established by presidential decree in 1999, the Marib Cleanliness and Improvement Fund is a government service agency dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the cleanliness of cities in the province.
