On January 12, 2025, Yemeni President Rashad Al-Alimi instructed the Central Organization for Control and Auditing (COCA) to expedite the review of all ministries' accounts. During his meeting with COCA head Judge Abu Bakr Hussein Al-Saqqaf, reports on institutional performance and strategies to address financial imbalances were presented.
Despite Saudi support, the Yemeni rial continues to fall, reaching record lows. Al-Alimi praised COCA's efforts in protecting public funds and combating corruption and stressed the need for comprehensive reforms to enhance state institutions and anti-corruption mechanisms.
On January 5, 2025, the Presidential Leadership Council initiated measures to fight corruption, money laundering, terrorism financing, and protect public funds. Official reports revealed over 20 corruption cases involving more than $2.2 billion.
