Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman met with Syria’s interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa in Riyadh on Sunday to discuss the latest developments in Syria and ways to support its security and stability.
Sharaa, accompanied by Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani, arrived in Saudi Arabia earlier that day for his first official visit abroad since assuming office.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Riyadh and Damascus and exploring opportunities for cooperation across various fields. The leaders also addressed regional developments and ongoing efforts to enhance stability.
“We sensed and heard a genuine commitment to supporting Syria’s future, upholding the will of the Syrian people, and ensuring the unity and security of their land,” Sharaa was quoted as saying by Syria’s state news agency SANA.
In a written statement, Sharaa highlighted discussions on humanitarian and economic cooperation, emphasizing future plans in energy, technology, education, and healthcare aimed at fostering a meaningful partnership. He stressed that continued political and diplomatic collaboration would reinforce Syria’s role in Arab and global affairs, particularly following last month’s talks in Riyadh.
Saudi Arabia has been at the forefront of diplomatic efforts to lift sanctions on Syria, seeking to revive its economy and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
