Sultan Al-Aradah, a member of the Presidential Leadership has formed a committee to investigate the death of a detainee, Rashid Al-Hutam, in the Political Security prison in Marib governorate, according to senior security sources.
The committee comprises officials from the Interior Ministry, local authorities in Marib and Al-Baydha, security agencies, the Public Prosecution, a representative of Al-Hutam's family, and military intelligence, sources told Barran Press.
Chaired by Major General Abdulhamid Qasem Al-Hamadi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Interior Ministry, the committee will examine the circumstances surrounding Al-Hutam's death following his arrest. Reports indicate that Al-Hutam died by suicide in his cell.
Al-Hutam had recently arrived in Marib from Houthi-controlled areas. He was arrested by security forces on January 15, 2025, after a video livestream surfaced showing him and a group of youths chanting the Houthi slogan during celebrations of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
