The Saudi demining project, Masam, reported on February 10th that its teams removed 714 mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Yemen last week.  This included 30 anti-tank mines and 684 UXO.
Since its launch in 2018, Masam has cleared a total of 481,240 mines and UXO.

Osama Al-Qasibi, the project’s executive director, emphasized the indiscriminate nature of these explosives and the threat they pose to civilians, particularly children, women, and the elderly.

Last week's demining operations spanned multiple provinces, including Marib, Aden, Al Jawf, Shabwah, Taiz, Al Hudaydah, Lahij, Sanaa, Al Bayda, Al Dhale, and Saada.
UN reports estimate that the Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, have planted approximately two million mines in areas under their control, causing over 20,000 civilian casualties, primarily women and children.  Human rights organizations have repeatedly called on the Houthis to provide minefield maps to facilitate demining efforts.
