Adnan Al-Odaini, spokesperson for Yemen's Islah Party, asserted that on February 11th, 2011, Yemen was "one step away" from completing its transitional process and building a better future. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Al-Odaini commemorated the peaceful uprising of February 11, 2011, recalling the Yemeni people's aspirations for change after the existing regime reached a stalemate. He noted the progress made by the National Dialogue Conference in addressing past grievances.
Al-Odaini argued that the revolution was nearing its objectives when the Iran-backed Houthi rebels disrupted the process through force. He criticized the Houthis' ongoing efforts since 2014 to reimpose an oppressive, Iran-aligned regime on Yemen.
The Islah Party spokesperson emphasized the Yemeni people's resistance to these efforts, reaffirming their commitment to freedom and unity against the Houthi movement. He insisted that the achievements made by Yemenis since 1962 are irreversible.
Tomorrow marks the 14th anniversary of the February 11th revolution, which called for fundamental reforms to the government of then-President Ali Abdullah Saleh. The uprising ultimately led to the Gulf Cooperation Council's intervention and the Gulf Initiative.
