The Association of Mothers of Abductees has issued an urgent appeal to local and international human rights organizations to intervene and save the life of Ismail Al-Bateena, who has been detained by the Houthi rebels since October 20, 2017.
The association reported that Al-Bateena's health has severely deteriorated in Sana'a's Central Security Prison due to deliberate medical neglect. He is reportedly suffering from acute stomach inflammation, persistent diarrhea, and a testicular tumor.
The Association of Mothers of Abductees holds the Houthis fully responsible for Al-Bateena's life and demands his immediate release and access to urgent medical treatment. They condemned his continued detention under such harsh conditions as a gross violation of human rights.
This appeal calls for immediate intervention to ensure Al-Bateena receives the necessary medical care and to alleviate the suffering of all abductees held by the Houthis.
