Jamal Ahmed Rawah Qa'id Muhsin Al-Mahmoudi died on February 18, 2025, just 11 days after being released from five years of captivity in a Houthi prison. Legal sources informed Barran Press that Al-Mahmoudi, from Al-Dhalea Governorate, suffered severe physical and psychological torture, as well as medical neglect, during his imprisonment.
Al-Mahmoudi was captured on January 12, 2020, and held in the Central Security Prison in Sanaa, which is overseen by Houthi leader Abdul Qader Al-Murtada. He was released on February 7, 2025, in critical condition and died as a result of the mistreatment he experienced.
This follows the recent death of Mohammed Ali Al-Nassim, who also died shortly after his release from Houthi detention due to similar torture.
Official government reports indicate over 350 deaths due to torture out of 1,635 documented cases within Houthi prisons since their 2014 coup.
