The Yemeni Gas Company – Safer announced intensified efforts to address rising household gas demand in preparation for Ramadan. The company pledged to maintain stable supplies and called on authorities to support monitoring and enforcement to prevent violations in gas distribution and sales.
In a statement released via the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the company refuted claims circulating on social media and news outlets about gas storage, illegal trading, or smuggling abroad. It clarified that household gas produced at its Safer facility is distributed through established protocols, with supply plans updated annually based on population density and available resources.
Addressing concerns about gas hoarding and black market activity, the company highlighted its collaboration with state agencies, local authorities, and judicial bodies to tackle these challenges.
The announcement comes amid reports from local media and activists of a gas shortage in provinces such as Taiz, Aden, and Abyan, with some accusing entities of hoarding gas for profit.
