On Friday, Shohood for Human Rights reported the death of 14-year-old Raddad Saleh Ali Ghalib, alleging he died from injuries sustained in an assault at the Al-Falah center in the Melh area of Nihm District, Sana'a Governorate, an area under Houthi control.
Shohood stated that Raddad was forcibly recruited in early February 2025 and placed in a center for what the organization described as sectarian indoctrination. They alleged that on February 8th, he was violently assaulted, resulting in severe bleeding and injuries. Shohood claimed that instead of receiving prompt medical attention, he was isolated for two days, which led to his condition worsening and his subsequent death at Hospital 48.
The organization condemned the Houthi movement for what it described as severe violations against children, and accused them of attempting to conceal the cause of death by claiming it was due to a "health crisis." Shohood called for an independent international investigation and urged the UN and international human rights organizations to protect Yemeni children from repeated violations.
Shohood pointed that this incident reflects a pattern of abuse, and called for urgent international action to ensure accountability and protection.
