The Iran-backed Houthis has initiated a campaign to recruit girls for military training, beginning with approximately 75 girls in Sana'a, according to a statement released by the Yemen Network for Rights and Freedoms." The organization alleges that these girls were forcibly subjected to intensive weapons training.
This recruitment drive targets girls of various ages in neighborhoods and government schools, aiming to integrate them into the Houthis' female military formations.
The campaign occurs against a backdrop of escalating violations within Yemen's education sector. Human rights organizations have documented the Houthis' conversion of roughly 700 schools into military recruitment centers for children in areas under their control. These centers are spread across Sana'a, Al-Hudaydah, Ibb, Dhamar, Amran, Saada, Hajjah, and Al-Bayda governorates.

The Houthis have implemented mandatory recruitment of thousands of students through "Al-Aqsa Flood Courses," further militarizing the youth population in the region.
These actions raise serious concerns about the exploitation and militarization of children, particularly girls, by the Houthis, and highlight the deepening crisis within Yemen's education system.
