Deputy Minister of Education Ali Al-Abab and Marib Deputy Governor Ali Al-Fatemi concluded a series of training workshops on gender-based violence, organized by the Yemen Women's Union in Marib. Funded by UNICEF, the month-long program trained 410 teachers from 85 schools across Marib city, Harib, and Marib Al-Wadi.
The workshops aimed to equip teachers with the skills to identify and address gender-based violence in schools, understand its effects on students, and provide initial solutions and referrals. Minister Al-Abab emphasized the importance of such initiatives in raising awareness among educators, enhancing the educational environment, and safeguarding students from violence and discrimination. Similarly, Deputy Governor Al-Fatemi underscored teachers’ critical role in fostering safe, welcoming, and violence-free schools, which improves education quality and instills positive values.
Fanda Al-Amari, head of the Yemen Women's Union branch in Marib, added that the training included strategies for managing gender-based violence, reporting procedures, and offering psychological and social support to affected students.
