Rights sources have reported the tragic death of Abdullah Saif Sharyan, a mentally ill resident of Sana'a, Yemen, who was forcibly sent to the frontlines by the Iran-backed Houthis.
Fahmi Al-Zubairi, Director of Human Rights in the Capital Secretariat, revealed that the Houthis exploited Sharyan's vulnerable psychological and financial state, leading to his death in combat. Al-Zubairi emphasized that this is not an isolated incident, citing a pattern of the Houthis recruiting vulnerable individuals, including children, particularly after suffering military setbacks.
"This terrorist behavior constitutes war crimes and crimes against humanity, violating international humanitarian law and conventions," Al-Zubairi stated, condemning the exploitation of vulnerable groups for military purposes as a severe human rights violation.
