Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi, accompanied by council member Sultan Al-Aradah, met with Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa on Tuesday to discuss developments in both countries and explore ways to strengthen and expand bilateral relations at all levels.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo. During the discussion, President Al-Sharaa praised the deep-rooted ties between Syria and Yemen, emphasizing the importance of close coordination in addressing shared challenges.
Al-Sharaa also expressed his appreciation for Yemen’s steadfast support—at the leadership, government, and popular levels—for the Syrian people. He extended his best wishes to Yemen, hoping for the restoration of its state institutions, security, and stability, according to the official SABA news agency.
The two leaders exchanged greetings in honor of the holy month of Ramadan, wishing their nations and the entire Arab and Islamic world peace, prosperity, and blessings.
For his part, Al-Alimi reaffirmed Yemen’s commitment to Syria’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the aspirations of its people for peace and stability.
He also expressed his desire to enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields, including the reactivation of diplomatic representation between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Yemeni Foreign Minister Shaea Al-Zindani, Yemen’s Ambassador to Cairo Khaled Bahah, and the head of the Presidential Leadership Council’s office, Saleh Al-Maqaleh. Representing Syria were Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shibani and Syria’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Hossam Alaa.
