Medical sources in the Gaza Strip reported on Tuesday morning, March 18, 2025, that over 250 Palestinians were killed and approximately 200 injured, mostly women and children, in the renewed Israeli bombardment on the Strip.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced before dawn the resumption of the war on Gaza, citing what it claimed was Hamas's rejection of American proposals to extend the ceasefire.
According to a statement from Netanyahu's office, both Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant issued instructions early this morning for the occupation army to move forcefully against Hamas in Gaza. The statement claimed that the resumption of the war followed Hamas's refusal to release Israeli hostages and its rejection of offers received from U.S. President's envoy, Steve Witkoff, and mediators.
The statement revealed that the occupation army is currently launching an attack on Hamas targets throughout the Gaza Strip to achieve the war's objectives "as defined by the political level," including the release of all living hostages and bodies, according to Netanyahu's office.

In response, the Palestinian resistance movement "Hamas" stated that Israeli Prime Minister "Netanyahu" and his Nazi government are resuming aggression and a war of genocide against defenseless civilians in the Gaza Strip. In a statement, the Palestinian resistance held Netanyahu and the Zionist occupation fully responsible for the repercussions of the treacherous aggression on Gaza, its defenseless civilians, and the besieged Palestinian people.
Hamas indicated that Netanyahu and his extremist government decided to overthrow the ceasefire agreement, putting the hostages in Gaza at an unknown fate. Hamas called on mediators to hold Netanyahu and the Zionist occupation fully responsible for violating and overthrowing the agreement. It also urged the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to bear their historical responsibility in supporting the steadfastness and valiant resistance of the Palestinian people and breaking the unjust siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, Hamas called on the United Nations and the UN Security Council to urgently convene and take a decision to compel the occupation to stop its aggression and implement Resolution 2735, calling for a halt to the aggression and withdrawal from the entire Gaza Strip.
The first phase of the ceasefire agreement and prisoner exchange in the Gaza Strip officially ended on March 1, lasting 42 days, without Israel agreeing to enter the second phase and end the war, amid obstacles from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Following the end of the truce, the Israeli government decided to stop the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, hours after the first phase of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Tel Aviv ended.
In response, Hamas considered Israel's decision to stop humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip as cheap blackmail, a war crime, and a flagrant violation of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement implemented on January 19.
