On Thursday, the Shabwah Alliance of Tribes called for establishing an oil refinery to address local fuel needs. During a meeting in Bayhan District, chaired by Sheikh Ali bin Doushal Al-Nassi, the alliance also demanded greater transparency in oil agreements, fair distribution of resources, and an end to illegal deals involving Shabwah’s oil fields.

The alliance stressed the importance of investing oil revenues in development projects and urged the government to take immediate steps to stabilize the economy, enhance public services, and eliminate unauthorized levies. Rejecting any political exploitation of these demands, the group called for inclusive governance to promote stability and unity in Shabwah.

As part of its annual agenda, the alliance aims to resolve tribal disputes and strengthen cooperation among the governorate’s diverse social and political groups.

This comes as Yemen faces an escalating humanitarian crisis, further aggravated by the Iran-backed Houthis.
